FAMILY LAW
Representation: A party is represented by an attorney, in their family law matter. This can involve the dissolution of a marriage or partnership, and the resolution of issues related to custody, support, division of assets and debts, and payment of attorney’s fees. The family law court also hears issues related to parentage of child born outside of marriage, and issues related to custody and child support.
Mediation: In family law mediation, couples utilize one attorney to assist them with the requisite paperwork and to aid them in mediating the terms of their Dissolution. The goal is to reach a final agreement that will be filed with the Court. This helps clients avoid emotionally and financially taxing litigation.
Prenuptial Agreements: Prior to marriage, couples can enter into an agreement to determine their rights to property and support in the event their marriage ends.
Unbundled Services: This allows a client to retain an attorney on a limited scope basis, so that attorney can provide them affordable legal assistance during different stages of their family law case. With unbundled services, the client gains the benefit of having an experienced family law attorney aiding and guiding them, without incurring the cost of full representation.
Consultation: During a client consultation, a client is able to ask an attorney questions and gain a better idea of the family law process, what issues may occur, and the typical progression of a family law case. A client consultation can be scheduled once, or at various times over the course of a family law proceeding.
